The UWE Titans is a mixed gender and mixed ability sports team, bringing the games of baseball and softball to the masses at UWE. Founded in 2018, the club has gone through many stages and after a rebrand in 2022, has been brought back to life over the last couple of seasons creating a strong club environment and leading to some great memories and friendships.
Being niche sports in the UK, most of our team have never played before joining the club, but have loved every second and embraced the baseball and softball culture. This leads to a budding roster of players eager to grow with one another, leading to an unmatched atmosphere amoung sports clubs.
Training
We train twice a week during the academic terms on Friday evenings (20:30-22:00) at Hillside Gardens, our outdoor training facility; and on Sunday early afternoons (13:30-15:00) at Centre for Sport omn Frenchay Campus, our indoor training facility.
As we participate in two diciplines, we rotate our training sessions to cover both baseball and softball specific training, however with there being alot of crossover between the two sports, trainings will be similar enough for the skills to carry across both avenues of play. This allows the team to grow as one and get the most out of our sessions as possible.
Gamedays
For baseball and softball, our games are played on Saturday (or the weekends for tournaments). We play our home games at Somerdale Pavilion, Keynsham, on Bristol Baseball Club's beautiful diamond, kitted out with a mound as well as lots of amenities. Bristol Baseball are the biggest team in the south west with multiple teams in multiple divisons and a partner to the UWE Titans offering coaching and more.
BUCS
BUCS is the university system our league plays under. This is a competitive league where we play other universities for positioning in a league table to carry forward into the post season. If you are looking to play for UWE in BUCS you will have to purchase the BUCS specific membership.
Our recreational membership is our baseline membership to join and participate as part of the club. This encompasses the general events of the club such as training sessions, socials, friendlies and more. In additon, you will recieve a UWE Baseball and Softball brand t-shirt as well as many incredible memories.
The BUCS membership is tailored to anyone who wants to play competivitive BUCS league baseball games, representing your university as well as maximising the amount of Baseball playing time. This is a great membership for everyone looking to improve as game senarios deliver exceptional experience that you can only get in game. For just £10 more, you will get the full experience of being a student athlete and of the UWE Titans.
