UWE FENCING

Come along to any session and give fencing ago, no kit needed we provide it all !!!

What is fencing?

Fencing is a fast paced, adrenaline fuelled sport that's great for fitness and strength. We train in three different types of sword: The foil, epee, and sabre, which each have their own unique style and feel so there's something for everyone. We also have a team of friendly coaches who are happy help you along whether you're a complete beginner or a national athlete.

Membership

This year UWE Fencing will have 2 membership options: 

For current UWE students membership will be £30, this will entitle you to all training sessions, invitation to all socials, the option to be a member of the BUCS team (credits required) free entry to the UWE Open competition.

For BUCS, membership will cost £55, this allows you in to every training session, along with the ability to attend BUCS matches subject to being selected by the team captain for each match.

If you haven't come to a session yet but want to give it a go, please come along as we offer your session free of charge.

Training Times

Wednesday 13:00-16:00 at Dings RFC, Shaftesbury Park, BS16 1LG

Saturdays 16:00-17:45 at the Centre for Sport on Frenchay Campus.

Training is due to restart on the 26th January 2022.

Kit is available to borrow and will be sanitised and quarantined inbetween sessions, but if you have any equipment please bring it along. Both training locations have places to re-fill water bottles and hand sanitising stations. Social distancing restrictions are currently reduced, but the sessions at Dings RFC is a bigger venue so you will find it easier to find your own space. 

Socials

We have a variety of socials for the upcoming year, welcome drinks, themed events and more! We'll also be having our Christmas meal and some joint socials with other clubs. There is something for everyone to enjoy and a chance to get to know the rest of the club.

You can come meet us in person! We will have a stall on Wednesday 6th October outside the Student's Union building on Frenchay campus and would love to meet prospective members!
