At UWE Hockey we welcome all hockey abilities, whether you are an experienced player or a first time player, there is a team for you! We have 5 teams enlisted to play in BUCS and 3 Saturday teams.
As the largest sports club over the 2022/23 season, UWE Hockey welcomes a range of abilities when it comes to playing hockey. Everyone is welcome to join UWE Hockey, no matter how much experience you have playing. Our club consists of 5 BUCS teams (2 Ladies and 3 Mens), one Ladies team (for those who would prefer to play less competitively) who we are trying to register for BUCS next season, and 3 Saturday teams (1 Ladies and 2 Mens). In BUCS and Wednesday matches our teams compete against other Universities, on Saturdays we compete against local teams.
Within each of these leagues is a Cup league, this league is played via knockout rounds (if a team loses a match, it is out of the league). During the 2022/23 season, both of our L1s and M1s teams made it to the Cup Final of their leagues, our M1s team brought home the victory and our L1s came in 2nd place!!
We will be training at our brand new astro at Lockleaze Sports Centre (Bonning Walk, Lockleaze, Bristol, BS7 9XF).
As this pitch is still under construction, we are still deciding who will be training when and the timings for those trainings, they will be updated when we have come to a conclusion!

Each year, UWE holds a day of varsity matches against another University (in the 2022/23 season it was Univeristy of South Wales). This event is huge within UWE hockey, hosting a large and cheerful crowd.
UWEHC takes part in many charity events that UWE have arranged throughout the year. These events include the annual Netball and Volleyball tournaments, which involve sports across UWE entering teams to compete against each other.
We also arrange different club days, consisting of mixed and friendly matches, throughout the season. These are a good way for everyone in the club to have a slightly more relaxed match, playing alongside people they wouldn't usually play with!
One thing that we pride ourselves on at UWE Hockey are our socials. Ours socials are every Wednesday throughout the season, much like other societies at UWE. These socials are an opportunity for us as a club to relax, celebrate wins (or comiserate losses), and to interract with people who are in different teams.
We love to dress up in this club, whether it is dressing silly for socials (such as our freshers karaoke and our halloween social) or dressing fancy for events (for example the Hockey Christmas dinner or End of Season Dinner), we go full out. The Christmas and End of Season dinners are dress/suit events and so are great opportunities to dress up fancy, eat dinner, and spend quality time with your hockey family.
Important- As a club we have zero tolerance for behaviour such as harrasment, bullying, peer pressure, etc. We want this club to maintain an environment that makes every member feel safe and appreciated individually, if anyone displays behaviour that could jeopardize this, it will not be tolerated.
