What experiences make me the best candidate?
As a driven and dedicated individual, I, Sheikh Ababakar, am pleased to present my candidacy for Vice President Societies and Communication. With a strong foundation in leadership and management, I am confident in my ability to effectively support and empower student societies. During my A-Levels at The Millennium Universal College in Pakistan, I had the opportunity to develop my leadership skills as president of the Debating and Declamation Society. This experience not only honed my ability to work collaboratively with others but also instilled in me a passion for creating inclusive and engaging communities. In addition to my academic experience, I have also gained valuable professional experience in managerial roles at Pernia Textiles Private Limited and Usman Enterprises. These positions have equipped me with expertise in relationship-building, conflict resolution, and strategic planning. As a final-year student of BA(Hons) Business and Management at UWE Bristol, I possess a deep understanding of the university's community and the needs of its students. I am now eager to leverage my skills and experience to make a positive impact on student life and society engagement.
What my key priorities and targets are if I'm were successful in being elected
As Vice President Societies and Communication, I am committed to fostering a vibrant and inclusive campus community that empowers student societies to thrive. To achieve this, I will establish a comprehensive support framework, comprising a Society Development Fund, tailored training programs, and a recognition and rewards system. This integrated approach will enable societies to grow, develop, and contribute meaningfully to university life. Effective communication is pivotal to my vision. I will establish regular feedback mechanisms, ensuring that societies' voices are heard and valued. By leveraging a range of communication channels, including social media, email newsletters, and society meetings, I will keep students informed and engaged. Moreover, I will champion inclusive language and practices, promoting a culture of respect, empathy, and understanding. Ultimately, my goal is to create an environment where every student feels valued, supported, and empowered to succeed. By prioritizing student well-being, I will work to provide accessible mental health support, promote well-being events and initiatives, and foster a sense of community and belonging. Through collaborative leadership and a student-centered approach, I am confident that we can achieve a truly exceptional student experience.
