What experiences make me the best candidate?

As a dedicated Student Representative, I have worked tirelessly to support and assist my fellow students, helping them navigate various challenges and resolve issues effectively. I believe that every student deserves prompt and accessible support, which is why, if elected as your VP Education, I am committed to enhancing the student help and outreach system. My goal is to ensure that any student facing challenges can easily reach out and receive the necessary support quickly and efficiently. I’m passionate about improving communication and making sure every student feels heard and supported throughout their journey.

What my key priorities and targets are if I'm were successful in being elected

1. Transparent Feedback & Review System

• Advocate for clear and detailed feedback on exams and coursework to help students understand their performance and areas for improvement.
• Introduce a grade review process, allowing students to request a second look at their marks before the resit period, ensuring fairness and clarity.

2. Career Pathways & Industry Engagement

• Host career development workshops and industry-focused seminars to equip students with practical skills and insights into their chosen fields.
• Bring back alumni to share their professional experiences and provide mentorship, connecting current students with potential career opportunities.

3. Academic Support for All Students

• Create a support network specifically for international students to guide them through UWE's academic expectations, helping them feel confident in their studies.
• Provide stress-relief sessions and exam prep workshops to help students manage academic pressures and improve their exam performance.

4. Enhanced Learning Resources for Postgraduates

• Ensure postgraduate students have access to lecture recordings and additional academic resources to support independent study.
• Push for more flexible resit options and lower retake fees, allowing students to complete their studies without financial strain.

5. Empowering Student Representatives

• I will elevate the training for student representatives, empowering them to engage more deeply with their peers and effectively amplify their concerns to both the Student Union and the university. By providing comprehensive training in conflict resolution, communication, and leadership, we will equip reps with the skills and confidence to be powerful advocates for students, ensuring that their voices are heard and their issues addressed with the attention they deserve.
