Candidate for VP of Education

Hello, my name is Preet Kamal Dhillon, and I am running for the position of Vice-President Education. As a passionate advocate for students' academic success and overall well-being, I believe that together, we can create a more inclusive, supportive, and empowering educational environment.
 

Objectives and Priorities.

1. Enhancing Academic Support and Resources. Increase access to academic workshops, skill-development initiatives, and peer tutoring services. Advocate for additional academic-specific mental health support, such as test stress workshops and counseling services. Collaborate with faculty members to guarantee timely feedback and fair assessment processes for all students.

2.Improve Communication and Representation Improve the link between students and university decision-makers by providing additional opportunities for student feedback. Introduce monthly forums or drop-in sessions where students can express their academic issues. Ensure more transparency in how student opinion informs university policy.

3. Promoting diversity, inclusion, and accessibility. Ensure that course materials are inclusive and represent a variety of perspectives. Campaign for more accessible learning environments, with captioned lectures and lecture recording as regular practice. Advocating for specialized academic support will benefit international students and students with disabilities.

4. Advocate for Flexible and Innovative Learning. Encourage more flexible learning choices, such as blended learning (online and in-person), to better meet the requirements of different students.
Encourage the creation of digital materials to supplement traditional education.
Collaborate with the institution to improve work placements, internships, and career guidance for students.

5. Assisting Students with Future Readiness and Employability
Plan networking gatherings, employment fairs, and workshops that emphasize entrepreneurship, interview techniques, and CV construction.To expand internship and employment chances for students, fortify alliances with nearby companies and alumni networks. Encourage all programs to incorporate employable skills into their curricula.
