Why I’m Running
University is more than just lectures and assignments—it’s about feeling heard, valued, and supported. If elected as your Student Union President, I will dedicate myself to making UWE a place where everyone—regardless of background, nationality, or neurodiversity—feels empowered to thrive. My mission is to break barriers, build connections, and create opportunities for all students.
My Vision for UWE
1. A Safe and Inclusive Space for Every Student
- Ensure every student, no matter their background, is heard and valued.
- Strengthen student representation and feedback systems to make real changes based on your voices.
- Advocate for stronger policies on equality, diversity, and inclusion.
2. Widening Participation and Representation
- Support global majority students in making their mark at UWE.
- Provide mentorship and leadership programs to help students from underrepresented backgrounds succeed.
- Work closely with faculties to remove barriers to education and career progression.
3. A Thriving International and Diverse Community
- Enhance support systems for international students to ease their transition and overcome challenges.
- Organize cultural events and initiatives to celebrate the richness of our diverse student body.
- Strengthen networks for students to connect across cultures, building a truly inclusive UWE.
4. Sports, Fitness & Well-being for All
- Expand MOVE sessions to make fitness more accessible and engaging for all students.
- Promote health and wellness initiatives, ensuring students have the support to stay active and healthy.
- Promoting Sports, Games & Student Experience
- Increase awareness and attendance at university sports events.
- Improve the atmosphere at games—better marketing, student engagement, and incentives.
- Organize tournaments and casual game nights for all students, not just sports teams.
5. Mental Health & Well-being: Prioritizing Student Support
- Introduce De-Stress Months with free well-being activities during exam seasons.
- Expand access to mental health services, ensuring faster response times and increased support.
- Provide health incentives to encourage positive mental health practices.
6. Supporting Neurodiverse Students
- Create a more inclusive learning environment with better support for neurodiverse students.
- Work with faculty to ensure neurodiverse-friendly teaching methods and accommodations.
- Build awareness campaigns to educate and foster understanding among students and staff.
7. Creating a Safer Campus at Night
- Keep key student spaces like Night Café open in the evenings.
- Implement better security measures to ensure safety.
