Conservation Volunteering Day at Sims Hill Woodland

Are you interested in wildlife and forestry conservation? Love spending time outdoors in the fresh air? If yes, then this is for you! Even if you have never done anything related to conservation before, everyone is welcome.

Where to meet:

We’ll meet at 10:00 outside The Students’ Union shop (U Block, Frenchay Campus), google map pin is here.

And then walk over to the Sims Hill woodland together which is about 20 minutes away.

What to expect on the day:

• An introduction to the woodland, covering its ecology and history.
• You'll be given a free veggie / vegan meal deal!
• Helping out with routine maintenance and conversation of the woodland.
• You’ll receive tool training to help with coppicing, bramble bashing, resurfacing of pathways and other upkeep.
• Make sure you wear practical clothes and footwear, and check the weather beforehand so you can dress accordingly :).

This is an opportunity to get outdoors and learn about woodland conservation and maintenance. It's also great for mental and physical wellbeing and there is no pressure to participate in activities if you attend. We are also open to input on what other activities we could include in future work days. We also often run these days at Splatts Abbey Wood, another great local woodland.
