Get Involved: Join the Second Student Council Meeting of the Year!
Are you passionate about making a difference at UWE? Do you want your voice to be heard and help shape the future of your university experience? Then the Students’ Union (SU) Council is the place for you!
What is the SU Council?
The SU Council is a dynamic group of around 20 students, elected from various student groups, who oversee the activities and leadership of the SU. These Student Council Members are your representatives, ensuring that your ideas and concerns are addressed, and holding the SU President Team accountable.
What Happens at Student Council Meetings?
The SU Council meets at least three times each academic year to:
Discuss Issues: Address topics that impact students directly.
Receive Updates: Get the latest news from the SU President Team.
Make Decisions: Influence the direction and work of the SU.
It’s the highest decision-making body within The Students’ Union at UWE, making it a crucial platform for student engagement.
Why Should You Attend?
Your SU Presidents will provide updates on their efforts to enhance student life. You’ll have the opportunity to:
Ask Questions: ask about current student issues and check in on their progress on objectives,
Propose Ideas: Suggest improvements to make your university experience even better.
Get Involved: Be part of the decision-making process and see your ideas come to life.
How to Get Elected?
Twenty students are elected from various engaged groups within the SU:
5 from Sports Conference
5 from Rep Council
5 from Societies Conference (NFI Societies)
5 from Societies Conference (non-NFI Societies)
These elected members play a pivotal role in representing the diverse student body at UWE.

Any student at UWE can attend the SU Council meetings. Whether you’re a seasoned participant or new to the scene, your presence and input are invaluable. We encourage you to join us and make your voice heard! You can attend as an observer and attendee; you can ask questions but will not have voting rights.
