The Sustainability Committee is an opportunity for students who are passionate about sustainability to innovate and have the power to create positive change throughout UWE and beyond.
Create sustainable change within UWE and the wider community through events and campaigning. The committee can also shape the sustainability practice and credentials at The Students’ Union at UWE, and the wider UWE Bristol community.

The future is only possible with sustainability at the forefront of our attention and actions. Sustainability to me means working together in a collaborative way, to shift our habits and become more mindful of the interlinked connectivity of our actions on the planet. I am passionate that we can make positive changes which will have a ripple effect on a larger scale.
Let’s be the change, we want to see in the world!

Megan Deuchar
Course: Wildlife Ecology and Conservation Science
Hello! My name is Megan Deuchar, and I’m 19 years old, currently studying Wildlife Ecology and Conservation Science (WECS) at UWE Bristol.
My gap year in Tanzania, where I taught children and explored local ecosystems, deepened my passion for wildlife conservation. I’m also an avid hiker, having climbed active volcanoes like Mt. Lengai, which further connects me to nature.
I’m looking forward to bringing my enthusiasm for wildlife, conservation, and community engagement to the Sustainability Committee and collaborating with others to promote a more sustainable future!
Izabella Harris
Committee role: Internal Outreach and Networking Officer
Hi ! I'm Izzy and I'm in my second year studying Wildlife Ecology and Conservation Science.
I'm looking forward to being part of the committee this year and making UWE an even greener uni!
My passion for sustainability comes from the belief that it’s something everyone can do to contribute to the fight against climate change. Sustainability isn't just about large-scale actions but it's about the cumulative impact of small, everyday choices. This can vary from reducing waste, buying second-hand or choosing a more eco-friendly option. I hope to encourage more people to be more sustainable in their everyday life by finding new, fun and accessible ways to incorporate it.
In my spare time, you can find me in a charity shop, at the gym, out in nature or crocheting something new!!
