The students’ Union at UWE – Front of House/ Reception Support

We are seeking Front of House/ Reception Support for The Students' Union building on Frenchay and Glenside Campus.

We are looking for approchable individuals with customer service and/or administrative experience. The role will involve manual handling tasks, such as moving furniture and organising/ setting up spaces.

You will act as the first point of contact at The Students’ Union; dealing with deliveries, enquiries, taking phone calls and supporting open and close set-up, including, cleaning and tidying spaces as well as supporting the building during events.

We are looking for students who will be available to work from September 2025 and throughout the 2025/26 academic year.

We are ideally looking for students wanting to work around 10-15 hours per week during term time, however hours are casual and may or may not be available depending on the time of the year and footfall on campus.

When available, shifts will be available during our welcome period 2025, term-time hours and open days. These hours will reduce during the summer months/ non-term time and in line with footfall (as above).

There may also be weekend and evening work work available during key times of the year.

Duties:

• To act as the first point of contact at The Students’ Union, including meeting & greeting visitors and signposting and informing about SU & UWE services
• Answering and forwarding phone calls
• Filtering face-to face queries, phone calls and emails
• Responding to emails sent to the main generic account and calls to main SU phone number (diverting to UWE or SU as required)
• Keeping Union 1 and entrance areas tidy- Set up and take down meeting rooms/SU spaces, for events & meetings, regular moving & storing of equipment and cleaning where required
• Selling memberships and items using MSL Software
• To provide administrative support to all Students’ Union departments as authorised by the Buildings Manager (including sorting and distributing post, transport bookings, visitor parking etc)
• Complete opening and closing reception procedure and reporting issues as required
• Assist and support SU events

Skills & Experience:

• Admin skills
• Use of the Microsoft suite (Word, Excel, Outlook & Teams)
• Great customer service skills
• Excellent communication skills
• Confident communicating in-person, on the phone and via email

Hours:

We are looking for students who will be available to work from September 2025 and throughout the 2025/26 academic year.

Hourly Rate:

 £12.60 per hour 

*Please note this hourly rate will be inflated to include holiday pay

Location: 

Based at Frenchay Campus, shifts may also be available at Glenside Campus.
