Overview
The Welcome programme settles new and returning students back into the UWE Bristol community and includes a huge range of events and activities, for example the two-day Freshers Fair, Glenside and Bower Welcome Fairs, Speed Friending, Club Nights and much more.
Welcome Support Interns support with the administration and staffing for our Welcome Events Programme.
Welcome Support Interns (2 Positions)
The Welcome Support Interns will work to ensure that we successfully train and induct all student staff (Welcome Reps and LNDIR Reps), supporting the 2024 Welcome Programme, and work to ensure that ALL Welcome shifts are filled throughout the programme of events.

Welcome support interns will be asked to support with any administrative or staffing duties as requested by key SU stakeholders to ensure the welcome programme is a success.
Experience/Skills
We are looking for a confident communicator with strong administration skills, you will spend lots of time using our People system 'Staff Savvy’ and communicating with Welcome Reps (student staff) to get shifts filled.
Hours per week:
We are looking for 2 interns to work from the 22nd August 2024 for around 8 weeks.
The hours per week will vary and flex to accommodate our budget and the workload of the interns, hours will include daytime, evening and weekend working.
Usually, interns will work up to 37 hours per week for the first 2-3 weeks of the internship and this will decrease down to around 9 hours per week as the internship progresses.
The 2 interns will share their hours on a rota basis.
At the start of the internship both interns will work up to 37 hours per week, this will then reduce and become a split rota to accommodate cover across the whole week and sharing of tasks/ responsibilities, this will include covering evenings and weekends.
Please note that there may be the opportunity to pick up additional hours as the intern hours reduce by working events/ activities as welcome reps outside of the intern hours at the Welcome Rep hourly rate (£12.00 per hour).
*Please only apply for an intern position if you are available to work flexibly up to 40 hours per week for the duration of the internship, but likely reducing to around 9 hours per week towards the end of September/ early October.

Start Date: 22nd August 2024 (in-person, in Bristol)
Rate of Pay: £12.60 per hour
*hourly rate of pay will be topped up to include holiday pay

*Please check any visa requirements ahead of applying, as we do need someone who can work in excess of 20 hours per week during term time.
