We are looking for students studying towards their Early Years or studying Educational courses to join our on-campus Nursery team on a casual basis!

Halley Nursery provides a warm, friendly Nursery environment for our local community, university staff and the student population right here on Frenchay campus in Bristol.

Our day Nursery is made up of our Baby room, Toddler room and Pre-school room and has a friendly team of Nursery Assistants, Nursery Nurses, Nursery Supervisors and our Nursery Manager to keep things running.

We also have several UWE student staff supporting rooms on a casual basis.

We are currently looking for UWE students studying relevant courses such as Early Years to join our casual student staff team.

We are looking for students to work throughout the summer months (non term-time), and to work into/ throughout the 2025/26 academic year!

Hours are flexible and are based on your availability but we are looking for students who actively want to work shifts each week when shifts are available.

Duties:

• To provide high quality, child-centred care and education.
• To act as a key-worker for a group of children.
• To supervise and encourage positive, safe behaviour for children.
• To build positive relationships with children by acting as a role model and providing a warm, caring environment
• To assist children with personal, social hygiene and care.
• To promote and engage in effective, positive communication with children, colleagues, staff and parents.
• To comply with the Health & Safety policy and good practices.
• To promote safe working practices.
• To participate in regular staff meetings/events and training.
• To adhere to the Nursery’s Policies and Procedures.
• To maintain and complete nursery paperwork (medicine checks, accident forms etc)

Experience/Skills:

We are looking for students who are either childcare qualified or have had experience of working with early years and have a good knowledge of child development.

We would also be interested in applications from students studying Early Years or Educational courses.

We are looking for hardworking staff who can help at busy times throughout the year and are actively wanting to work shifts each week within a Nursery environment.

Rate of Pay:

£12.60 per hour

*Please note this hourly rate will be inflated to include holiday pay

Hours per Week:

Various hours available to suit students’ needs and schedules, shifts are scheduled based on your own availability!

The Nursery is open between 8.00am and 5.30pm and children are aged from 3 months up to 4 years.
