Community People Leader at The Students’ Union at UWE
Are you passionate about supporting and empowering others to achieve, grow and improve?
The Students’ Union at UWE is looking for someone with experience of managing and/or supervising others, who embodies our organisational values and behaviours, to be our Community People Leader; to act as a people and team leader for the student and campus engagement posts within the Community Team.
This position will also support the elected full time Presidents and part time Officers in achieving their goals whilst in post.
Here at The Students’ Union, our Community Team manage key projects and student engagement campaigns to build a sense of Community amongst the UWE Bristol Student population, key themes of work include Sustainability, Inclusion & Diversity (including Liberation projects and campaigns), and Health and Wellbeing.
The current engagement posts include:
Our Community People Leader will support engagement posts to operationalise campaigns and support presidents to succeed, in addition to completing their own key projects as assigned by the Community Manager. This would include providing written activity reports on events and engagement levels to the Community Manager and contribution to annual impact reporting, award submissions and sustainability and welfare accreditations.
The Community People Leader will be responsible for the day-to-day people management of the Community Team, whilst the Community Manager will provide the overall departmental vision for the team. Being a people manager here at The Students’ Union at UWE will involve using our people excellence tools to enable staff to feel supported and empowered during their employee lifecycle to achieve their objectives and results. This will include conducting a comprehensive induction for new starters, ensuring staff understand their job descriptions and daily responsibilities, conducting regular 121s, probation reviews and annual performance reviews.

Additional Information
Rate of Pay: £30,380
Grade: 5.1
Hours per Week: 37 hours per week, working 5 days out of 7
* Given the nature of the post, weekend and evening work will be required to achieve the desired outcomes at key times of the year
Holiday: 27 Days + Closure Days & Bank Holidays ‘pro rata’
Duration of Role: Permanent
Location: Based at Frenchay Campus- Bristol
*The postholder will be required to work at, or from any of the Union’ locations (Bower Ashton (City) Campus, Glenside Campus etc)
