I have been involved in various conversations both locally within several departments in the University and nationally with other Students' Union's and the National Union of Students (NUS) in general, discussing best practice and ways to continuously support students across the nation.
Check out this video update from myself on behalf of The Students Union at UWE. Various sabbatical officers from other universities came together to produced one video showing support, positivity and solidarity during these unpredictable times.
The President’s Team has continuously raised several concerns regarding the impact COVID-19 has had on our diverse student body, not excluding international students. I have had virtual meetings with the Board of Governors and the President's Team have had regular meetings with the CEO and the Vice-Chancellor, to discuss various topics and to ensure that student's voice is prioritised.
Here are some of the discussions we had in the month of March regarding Coronavirus. For more information please visit the UWE Bristol pages, most importantly the coronavirus guidance page.
We would like to thank everyone who has taken an active role in supporting UWE Bristol students during this very unsettling and challenging period. Check out the below ‘Thank You’ video from the Presidents dedicated to everyone at UWE Bristol.
Some of my scheduled meetings and events including the Board of Governors’ away day and Multicultural week have been cancelled but we will continue working to ensure that our student’s needs are prioritized.
On a lighter note, I have also recently released a ‘Get to know your President’ video for anyone who wants to know a little more about me.
For my manifesto updates, including the significant reduction in laundry cost and postgraduate accommodation extension scroll down on this page.
In the meantime, please take care of yourselves and each other, we will surely get through this together.
I am here to represent the UWE Bristol student community and I am committed to improving the student experience here at UWE Bristol. You can contact me via supresident@uwe.ac.uk and @TheSUPresident on Facebook and Twitter.
