Catch up on what happened at the last Rep Committee of this academic year.
Last week, your Vice President Education, Sabiha Khan, chaired the last Rep Committee of the year – with sweet treats for everyone! Student Reps are elected by their peers to be the voice of their cohort, across all courses and campuses. Along with School Reps and Lead School Reps, they work together to raise feedback and bring about positive changes at UWE Bristol. Rep Committees give Reps of all levels the opportunity to come together and discuss matters affecting students’ academic experience. The VP Education chairs these meetings, which are often based around a theme. This last session of the year focused on rounding up the academic year and was packed full of interactive feedback activities for those attending both in-person and online, via Teams. Fuelled by vegan doughnuts, Reps covered a range of topics – from timetables to lecture recordings and accessibility. Rep Committees are also a platform for the VP Education to provide updates to Reps about their work, campaigns and projects, as well as updating them on their manifesto progress. Sabiha shared her success in partnering with UWE’s Accommodation Services at Glenside and Frenchay to stock and regularly maintain free condoms and period products. She also shared her progress with personalising timetables and ensuring sufficient teaching hours – a project which she plans to continue into next year, after you elected her to be your VP Education for 2024/25 in The Student Elections! More info on your VP Education's manifestio can be found here. Alternatively, you can find out more about Student Reps here - including how you can be one next year!
