It's a been a busy Term 1 for our Vice-President Education and the Representation Team at The Students' Union at UWE for the 2024/25 academic year, here is a quick round up of all of things we have achieved with the students at UWE Bristol to ensure that The Students' Union is representing your academic interests!
For the 2024/25 academic year we have now recruited and trained over 800 Student Reps across courses, schools and colleges. Each Student Rep has been trained on how to gather feedback, how to raise this with your Programme Leaders and has access to Lead School Reps who feed into VP Education. To find out who your Student Rep is, head to your MyUWE and search for your Rep, your feedback is important to improve your course and academic experience for your cohort and beyond!
We will be continuing the training and recruitment of Student Reps for January cohort and Postgraduate students in 2025, if you are interested in becoming a Student Rep then email studentreps@uwe.ac.uk to find out more.
Following some vacant positions being left after The Elections in March 2024, there were 7 positions running in the By-Election with 4 new Part Time Officers, 2 new Democratic Procedures Officers and multiple NUS Conference Delegates elected by the UWE Bristol student body. They joined the already elected Part Time Officers and full time Presidents team who started their positions in June 2024.
The Executive Committee is made up of the full time Presidents and Part Time Officers elected for the 2024/25 academic year. They meet regularly (at least 8 times in an academic year) to work together to achieve their manifesto policies and goals. To find out what the Executive Committee have been up to, head to the Presidents and Part Time Officer pages where you can see their Term 1 wins and reports.
They also vote on Student Ideas that have been submitted and voted for by students, if you have an Idea that you want to be enacted into Students' Union policy, head to the Student Ideas page.
The Students' Union is run for students, by students. This includes the Student Council which is made up of up to 20 students who are elected from different student groups to oversee what the Students’ Union and student leadership does. The first Student Council was held in November and was facilitated by our newly elected Democratic Procedures Officers. It was a chance for the Student Council to scrutinise the Presidents on behalf of their student groups and discuss key issues that affected their respective student groups.
