With the news on Saturday of a second national lockdown, we know that some of you may be feeling anxious and unsettled, but we want you to know that The Students’ Union is here for you! Our role is to make sure that you have a positive UWE Bristol experience and we will continue to bring our services to you, whether that’s physically or virtually.
Our HallsLife team is here to help make lockdown fun! They will be putting on a range of virtual events including quizzes, cooking workshops, fitness classes and more, which all aim to get you chatting to new people. To keep up to date with everything going on, give them a like on Facebook, a follow on Instagram or check out our website. HallsLife are always open to suggestions, so if you have an idea, get in touch and let them know.
Our campus shops will also remain open and have all of your lockdown essentials. They stock ready meals, fresh and frozen pizzas, a selection of meat and meat-free alternatives and alcohol, as well as daily essentials like bread, milk and eggs. They’ve also got your household essentials including paracetamol, cleaning products and that all-important toilet paper.
Union 2 Frenchay Campus will be closed from Thursday, but Union 1 will still be open with a reduced staff number. This includes our Advice, Representation and Presidents Teams. If there is anything that you feel we can do to support you or improve your experience, please contact Augusta via supresident@uwe.ac.uk and for all general queries email thestudentsunion@uwe.ac.uk.
During this period, it is important to remember that all of your emotions are valid and that there is always someone that you can talk to if you need support. We have our 24/7 Crisis Textline, which provides support via text to UWE Bristol students wherever you are. For support text 85258. UWE Bristol also has a range of wellbeing services.
Make sure that you reach out to people during this time. Whether it’s friends or families, your neighbour or that person you met once in a lecture, we all need each other during this time.
