Our Ongoing Projects

IMechE UAS Challenge
The Aero Society will take part in the challenge. We will design, build, and fly an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) while tackling real-world problems. You’ll get hands-on experience with:

• Airframe design using CAD and composite materials.

• Power systems and electronics.

• Networking with industry professionals and future employers.

• Boosting your CV with practical skills, teamwork experience, and more!

Slow-Flying Indoor Plane
Don’t let winter weather stop us! We’re designing and building the lightest, high-performance indoor RC planes using advanced aerodynamic and structural software. Learn the basics of engineering software without the pressure of deadlines.

Design & 3D Print Your Own Aircraft
Our society owns a Prusa mk3s 3D printer and we’re already printing fully flyable aircraft! Whether it’s drones or fixed-wing planes, you’ll design in CAD, learn FEA and CFD, and see your creation come to life. Ready to outshine your peers with these skills? Start here!

Got a Crazy Idea?
Last year, we worked on everything from morphing wings to non-traditional quadcopter designs. If you’ve got an idea—no matter how wild—let’s make it happen! Our society loves bold and innovative projects
