Welcome to the UWE Calisthenics page! Total beginner or expert; we are the society for all those interested in bodyweight exercise !
Welcome to the UWE Calisthenics Society, where strength meets community, and every workout is a step towards a healthier, stronger you! Whether you're a beginner taking your first steps into the world of bodyweight fitness or an advanced enthusiast looking to master impressive moves, our society is your fitness haven on campus.
Our central training sessions are currently located on Frenchay Campus. Specifics, as well as updates and news related to events, are located on the uwecalsoc Instagram page and WhatsApp group!
Sessions are (usually) on Wednesday at 12:15-2pm and Sunday at 1-2:30 every week
All of our members started from the ground up, quite literally.
Our sessions are fundamentally crafted with all skill levels in mind, so whether you're unable to complete a pull-up - or you can hold a handstand with ease - we're excited to welcome you to our society!
Calisthenics is all about defying what you think you can or can't do. The only way to find out is by trying! Our members find progress in every step they take towards developing their strength and we believe you can too. You can be apart of bettering yourself regardless of any limitations of strength or even gender. If you don't believe us then join and find out!
Our sessions rotate between general, open and workshop sessions.
During an open session, it will be up to you how you structure your workout as these will often be outside or in a place where there is more space to move around. We will run warmups and cooldown's as normal but focus on what you want to target at your skill level. These are to get more people involved (as their is a limit to the amount of people allowed in the activity studio) and for people to showcase their skills.
Throughout the year we will organise these workshops as intro's to difficult skills that people at beginner to intermediate level can use to improve overall. These will be focused on teaching the basics and progressions of specific movements so that anyone can learn proper technique and overcome any challenges they are having with them.
